12-19-2009 - Children from the Kennedy, Tays, Eisenhower and Sandoval communities squared off in a friendly yet competitive soccer tournament at Capistrano Park located behind Kennedy.

· Claymation Film Festival 2009

10-24-2009 - HACEP partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of El Paso to introduce 200 housing children to the art of "claymation." Using stop-action camera techniques, hand-built clay characters, and plenty of imagination, the kids produced 25 one-minute videos. City Manager Joyce Wilson presented the "Oscars" during the red carpet event filled with glitz and glam!

· Congressman Reyes Visits HACEP.

09-04-2009 - HACEP staff warmly welcomed and thanked Congressman Silvestre Reyes for securing $1.4 million for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program. The funds support 250 previously underfunded vouchers and secures HACEP's service commitment to its residents and landlords.

· Montwood Heights Grand Opening

09-01-2009 - More than 100 people celebrated the Grand Opening of Montwood Heights on Monday, August 31, 2009. Former Alamito residents were overjoyed by their new Energy Star homes.

· School Supplies Giveaway

08-14-2009 - On August 14, 2009, more than 500 Section 8 children in grades 1-4 received bags filled with school supplies thanks to the Council of Independent Brokers & Agents.

· Homeownership Fair

06-27-2009 - On Saturday, June 27, the Housing Authority of the City of El Paso (HACEP) helped 90 families learn about the home-buying process from beginning to end during an all-day Homeownership Fair. Dozens of community partners and home ownership experts answered their many questions and empowered them with information and confidence.

· Ft. Bliss Monument Dedication

05-08-2009 - Mayor John Cook, Commissioner Joe Fernandez, Executive Director Gerald Cichon and well-known historians from the County and Ft. Bliss participated in a dedication ceremony to commemorate the first site of Ft. Bliss, Friday, May 8, 2009.

After years of neglect, the Texas Centennial Historic Marker was restored and relocated to the corner of Magoffin and Eucalyptus at the Tays Community. Now HACEP residents can enjoy an important part of El Paso's and Ft. Bliss' history.

· HACEP Job Fair 2009

04-18-2009 - More than 220 Public Housing and Section 8 residents applied to jobs with 19 local businesses during HACEP Job Fair 2009 on April 18, 2009.

· Los Tigres Del Norte Visit Alamito

04-10-2009 - The residents of Alamito Terrace were overjoyed by a surprise visit by Los Tigres Del Norte, one of the most famous norteños bands in the world, on Good Friday, April 10, 2009.

· KaBOOM! Playground at Eisenhower

02-12-2009 - 177 Volunteers built a magnificent KaBOOM! Playground at the Eisenhower Community on Thursday, February 12, 2009.

· Christmas Stocking Project

12-13-2008 - More than 800 children from HACEP communities received Christmas stockings stuffed with school supplies, toys and candy from residents of 16 elderly care facilities. Mayor John Cook, State Rep. Paul Moreno, Executive Director Gerald Cichon also participated. Aldo Acosta, weather anchor for Univision Ch. 26, was the event's master of ceremonies.
