Mr Gerald Cichon, Chief Executive Officer of the Housing Authority of the City of El Paso (HACEP), announces a National Design Competition for $10+ million Phase I LEED Green Affordable Housing in El Paso Texas, supported by the American Recovery And Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Stimulus Program. 

Prizes of $25,000 will be awarded to each of three winners of the Design Competition to develop designs for Phase I.  Awards also include Finalist and Honorable Mention.  Additional follow-on AE Services may be awarded for Phase II. 

Spectacular Architecture.  The goal of HACEP is to create a spectacular international-quality integrated affordable housing development, showing the latest and highest quality sustainable design practices, and optimizing the environmental impact of our operations.  HACEP has launched this architectural competition to design cutting-edge social housing for El Paso.  We are seeking the participation of design firms to develop a new exemplary architectural design for affordable housing. 

The timetable for the competition, which may be subject to change, is anticipated to be as follows:

 

Deadline for receipt of Stage 1 design proposal - end of Monday, March 8, 2010 – 11:59 p.m

All contracts recommended for award are not final until approved by the Board of Commissioners.  Any proposals received passed the due date and time will be considered disqualified.

The National Green Design Competition seeks the most talented architects to deliver bold, new, and exciting designs that positively impact the way we live. HACEP is looking for architectural design firms with backgrounds in sustainable architectural innovation to implement creative ideas within technical and financial parameters and to utilize original design productivity technology and planning concepts.

We invite talented designers to participate in this important and significant national green and susta inable design competition.

Pre - Proposal Conference Call
A conference to explain, clarify and answer technical questions concerning this RFP is scheduled for 10:00 AM MDT (i.e. 12 noon Eastern time, 11 AM Central time, 9 AM Pacific time), on Wednesday February 17, 2010 .
