Did you know that the number of children living in father-absent homes in the United States stands at 24 million? That why the Housing Authority of the City of El Paso will host a free Fatherís Day event on Saturday, June 16, from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., at the Family Investment Center located at 203 Cortez, El Paso, TX 79905. Food, games, interactive activities and a variety of employment and educational information will be on hand to help strengthen the important role fathers play in the success of the family.
WHAT: Fatherís Day 2012 to strengthen the bonds between fathers and their children, and to make education, health care, and employment resources available to the fathers that may lead to economic self-sufficiency.

WHY: This is the second annual Fatherís Day 2012 event with food, refreshments, music, and community resources. This will be a way to connect fathers and children, and will hopefully be a building block to stronger bonds. At the same time, this will be a great opportunity to connect men to resources in the community.
The Housing Authority of the City of El Paso, Texas (HACEP) provides safe, decent and affordable housing to assisted families at or below 80 percent of the area median income. HACEP is among the 20th largest public housing authorities in the United States and provides high-quality housing assistance to 40,000 El Pasoans through its Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, Tax Credit, Non-Subsidized and Section 8 New Construction programs. HACEP operates a $77 million annual budget and is regulated and primarily funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
